How To Get A Great Night's Sleep
When you’re staying away from home, we know that one of the things you value most is a comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep. That’s why, as part of our ongoing refurbishment programme, we have just replaced every one of our mattresses with Hotel Diplomat mattresses from Mattisons, which provide unrivalled comfort and support from their 1600 pocket springs.
However comfortable the mattress, it seems that some people still have trouble sleeping in an unfamiliar hotel, so we’ve put together a few top tips to help you sleep soundly.
Switch off your technology
Yes, you do need to see all the amazing things your friends are up to on social media and yes, you need to answer work emails, but if you try and go to sleep straight after looking at your phone or your laptop, your mind will still be racing! We recommend you switch your phone off at least an hour before trying to go to sleep to give your mind some quiet time so you drift off without a care in the world…
Lavender oil
This may sound a bit girly, but if you don’t carry a spring off fresh lavender in your pocket, then a few drops of the essential oil on your pillow can do wonders!
Eat Light
Try and eat a light meal in the evening so you’re not trying to digest a lot of food just as you are going to sleep.
Drink wisely
Alcohol is a sleep inhibitor, so have a drink by all means, but make it early – happy hours are a great idea!
Water
Keep a glass of water by your bed, so if you wake up thirsty you can have a sip and go back to sleep – no trying to find your way to the bathroom in the dark!
Earplugs
Whether you live in the country or in a city you will be used to a certain type of noise and however quiet your hotel, you are bound to be disturbed by unfamiliar sounds. A pair of inexpensive earplugs can easily solve this one!
